New edition of The Warden

I am indebted to Lucia Costanzo who spotted this display (at Hatchards St Pancras International branch) of the new Penguin edition of The Warden produced to mark the selection of Trollope’s novel that opened the Barchester series as the number one book of the last two hundred years according to Hatchards readers.

Hatchards commissioned a limited print run of The Warden from Penguin Classics, with the hardback featuring a new Hatchards introductory page and William Morris endpapers, as well as a new cover design. The bookseller, which was established in 1797 by John Hatchard, called the new edition “a particularly fitting tribute to Trollope in the 200th year since his birth”.
