Trollope – a French connection

I am indebted to Mark Anderson for sharing some pictures of a 1960 edition of Barchester Towers  which appears to have a French connection on the blog The New Psalmanazar.

Given the latest publicity suffered by W H Smith about its VAT practices at its airport outlets, one wonders what the branch at Rue de Rivoli, Paris would have charged back then.  It pre-dates the Euro, of course, so it would be Francs at an exchange rate that would probably make the modern reader wince.
