Trollope at the British Library

Trollope’s modest opinion of his writing was that:

“I do not think that my name will remain among those who in the next century will be known as the writers of English prose fiction.”

He would be surprised to learn, therefore, that tonight sees the British Library, which has an exhibition on his writing in its Treasures Gallery, staging a retrospective assessment of his career by a panel of experts comprising Geordie Greig (editor of The Mail on Sunday), Victoria Glendinning (Vice President of the Royal Society of Literature), author Joanna Trollope and actor Timothy West.
