Trollope: Not all Beef and Ale

John McCourt, Associate Professor of English at Rome University, has written a closely argued essay in the Dublin Review of Books in which he makes a persuasive case for viewing Trollope as much as an Irish author who also write a lot of books about England as the converse.

This theme is explored in more detail and at greater length in his book: Writing the Frontier: Anthony Trollope between Britain and Ireland which is published this week by Oxford University Press.
