Marking the Bicentenary of his birth, the British Postal Museum has an exhibition about Trollope’s introduction of the Pillar Box in the UK.  The exhibition starts today and runs until 30th April 2015.

The British Postal Museum is at Freeling House, Phoenix Place, London WC1X 0DL.

Included in the exhibition is the Channel Island’s box dating back to 1852 – one of the world’s oldest surviving pillar boxes. (The image shows the twin of the Museum’s pillar box which remains in service at St Peter Port in Guernsey.)
