With Trollope’s own bicentenary rapidly approaching, I wanted to share another bicentenary only marginally less significant. This month sees (if that is the correct verb for a radio programme) the 200th edition of the BBC’s long-running Bookclub programme. These entertaining programmes give a group of readers the chance to quiz an author about their own book which the group has just read. Sometimes the resulting discussion can be quite startling and revalatory. I would urge anyone who has never done so to give it a listen. Even if the author is not one you might ordinarily read the discussion is usually of interest and might encourage you to try someone new. And that can’t be a bad thing.
